What Do I Wear

Every award season there is an anticipation and excitement for red carpet fashion. Last night’s 86th Academy Awards was no different. Paired with every elegant gown is a masterpiece above the shoulders. When attempting to create the perfect look hair and makeup is everything. No look is complete until the last final touch of lipgloss is applied right before you leave the limo to step on thee fabulous red carpet.

The clear Oscar beauty trend was the nude makeup look. This look graced the carpet the most and was perfected by many talented makeup artist. Actresses like Angelina Jolie, Jessica Beil, Kate Hudson, Kristin Chenoweth, Sandra Bullock, and Charlize Theron all gave us golden bronze. Getting the nude makeup look can be achieved so many ways. There’s nothing like a great highlighter (MAC Skin Mineralizer in shade Soft and Gentle retail price $30- best for light to tanned skin tones) and perfect bronzer (NARS Casino retail price $38- perfect for tanned to medium skin tones) to achieve that Hollywood beauty inspired by the gold Mr. Oscar himself. Each of these ladies had a unique nude lip (NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss retail price $4.99- a truly universal nude lip) that complemented their skin.

Jada Pinkett-Smith, Amy Adams, Lady Gaga, and Cate Blanchett also gave us the nude makeup look by using peach undertones. By choosing a soft peach blush (CHANEL Joues Contrasted Powder Blush retail price $45- can be used both as a highlight and blush for a healthy youthful glow.) it gave just the right amount of natural glow. These ladies had particularly beautiful and flawless skin that look healthy and glowed.

A few of the attendees choose to take the unpopular route by deciding to go with a colored lip. The now Oscar award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o was beautiful in her stained red lip and flawless skin. Also deciding to go bold with her lips was Emma Watson.
